Oticon ProWax Guards
Ingress of ear wax and debris into your hearing aids is one of the major reasons the hearing aid can lose performance or stop working altogether. Using the wax management tools properly is important to maintaining optimal hearing aid performance.
As essential part of maintaining Oticon hearing aids is knowing when to swap over your wax filters also called wax guards. These are tiny white perforated plugs  that sit in the tips of Oticon receivers. They are designed to allow the passage of sound out of the hearing aid receivers and trap wax and debris preventing it from getting into the receiver or speaker units. This can diminish performance and even damage the receivers.

When to Change the ProWax Wax Guards

Swap the wax filters right away if you suspect your hearing aid isn’t working properly and it’s not due to a flat battery. For example if the sound has dulled down or cut out altogether then it’s probably debris build up in the wax filter and it’s time to change it over.  Changing these can can be a simply fix to a hearing aid  that seems compromised.
Most Oticon Hearing Aids use either the Oticon ProWax miniFit (Smallest) or the ProWax (Larger) wax guard. These come in packs of 6 attached to a turtle shaped plastic holder they are also  referred to as Turtle wax guards.

Made for Most Oticon Hearing Aids

Whether you have Oticon receiver in the canal style (RIC) hearing aids or custom fitting in the canal style hearing aids the Oticon ProWax guards are the most commonly used type of wax guard. Custom RIC ear moulds will often use the larger ProWax Guard.
